In response to the great success of the renovations and additions to the South Mountain complex, the County of Essex had again commissioned Comito Associates to design a second 500 car deck to accommodate the vast increase in attendance of Turtle Back Zoo visitors and the Codey ice rink users. The new parking structure and site improvements are strategically located at the rear of the Arena where facilities for Emergency Management vehicles, rink loading and service vehicles will be separated from the public visiting the Zoo and arena. Continuing the tree lined promenade from the main entry, the new deck lobby and car entrance will be prominently located near the Zoo main entrance, and the trail network connections to the Boathouse, Safari Golf and Reservation. Using the design elements established by the firm in the earlier works, the new deck is at home in look and feel with the complex.
