Newark Tech
The Newark Tech recreation facility was constructed as an addition to an existing urban vocational school on an irregular parcel of property near the downtown core of Newark, New Jersey. The 25,000 square foot facility was conceived as intersecting dynamic shapes of curved roof trusses and circular plan forms against a monument wall which holds the streetscape line. The program consists of an NCAA game court, four practice courts, auditorium and event seating, theatrical performance stage, faculty offices, locker rooms, classrooms and new west lobby building entrance.
